The deceased has been identified as Sahana, a 24-year-old woman who lived in Doddahasala village in Kolar Taluk. The accused, Manjunath, is reported to have subjected his wife to repeated dowry-related harassment despite the couple having two children.

According to initial information, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Kolar Rural Police Station. The couple's argument became violent, and then the woman died.

Manjunath allegedly assaulted Sahana with a pressure cooker during the encounter, police said. The blow allegedly rendered Sahana unconscious. The investigation is still in progress to determine exactly what took place and whether the assault caused the woman’s death.

Authorities also suspect that, having been attacked, the accused attempted to portray the death as a suicide after it took place, they said. Preliminary evidence indicates he hung the victim after she lost consciousness in an effort to mislead investigators and conceal evidence.

The incident came to light after family members and residents raised suspicions about the circumstances of Sahana's death. Information provided to the police indicated there were domestic disputes and allegations of dowry harassment in the family.

Sahana’s family has claimed that she was subjected to mental and emotional harassment for dowry even after several years of marriage. She was the mother of two children, but they say her husband kept putting pressure and mistreatment on her.

Police started an investigation following the complaint and took Manjunath into custody for questioning. The investigators are collecting witness statements, forensic evidence, and medical reports, which will be used to determine the cause of death and to investigate the nature of the crime.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination, and we can expect a lot more details about the injuries and reasons for her death. Results of the autopsy will be significant in the investigation.

Legal experts say that such allegations of dowry harassment and suspicious deaths of married women are treated with seriousness under Indian law. Police must investigate such cases thoroughly to determine if charges of domestic violence, dowry harassment, abetment, or murder have been made.

The death of Sahana was shattering for her family, and the future of her two children is concerning. Relatives are demanding strict action against those responsible and justice for the young woman.

Meanwhile, police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing. All available evidence is being examined, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry.

The incident is a grim reminder of the continuing challenges posed by domestic violence and dowry-related disputes, highlighting the need for stronger awareness, timely intervention, and support systems for women facing abuse within their homes.
