A woman under extreme economic adversity and suffering from debt in a case of financial exploitation was reported to be psychologically and sexually manipulated by a financier using a small loan as an object of financial exploitation. An investigation of the behaviour by police has raised questions as to who might not have felt safe enough to talk to any bank to lend them money, they have said.
According to police reports, the woman had come to the accused financier for a loan for ₹35,000 on Jan. 5 to tackle her woes. According to the contract that they signed, she received a blank cheque with a promissory promise and a cheque under which only the cash was available. She agreed to repay her from March onwards and have to pay ₹10,000 a month until the loan was paid off.
However, on March 7 the financier supposedly summoned her to his office and offered her an obscene and unacceptable deal. She also said that she did not have to repay the loan if she agreed to spend one night with him every week (for which he added a further ₹5–6 lakh annually).
The woman rejected the offer so adamantly, but the accused continued to harass her through repeated phone calls, threats and long-term pressure. The intimidation left her emotionally unstable and vulnerable because the mental health suffered immensely with them and so she was afraid to go anywhere (in case of another attack) she wanted to do if she feared losing of her privacy.
The harassment also affected her work with her work life as well. She reportedly lost her job and the constant stress and disturbance, according to the report, only made her financially more fragile in life.
So the woman decided to sell her gold stuff and finally reimbursed the full ₹35,000 through transfer online and get rid of the debt. But not only has the lender not stopped the harassment, the she was allegedly still involved and might even try to make things better with the concept that the documents were being destroyed.
When she came looking for police and reported to them to report the police and filed a complaint, the woman found herself unable to cope with the pressure anymore and she went to police and filed a police complaint. At her first police investigation, in her own words recorded conversations she told police are key evidence of how she testified.
Police have registered a case against the financier for mental harassment and exploitation based on the complaint and evidence. The accused is now arrested or detained and more investigation is being put in place. That would prove his financial clout and connections were to intimidate, officials said at a prior hearing that would have threatened the victim of harm or his life was to have been done and not made in person.
Meanwhile, the woman is in a hospital after such a severe mental trauma. She had not been eating for many days and was in a weakened condition when she came to the hospital, she says.
