Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the man accused of hitting and dragging a woman on the bonnet of his car near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow. Shahnawaz, 28, was taken to the police station after he allegedly hit and dragged a woman on the bonnet of his car after an argument with her; he was arrested.
The arrest came after a video of the incident emerged showing the woman on the bonnet of a moving car. The video was apparently shot during the incident, and she stood on the bonnet and fell onto the road. The car then appears to go towards her again.
According to the police preliminary report, the woman, identified as Anamika, confronted Shahnawaz after she saw him with another woman at a tea stall in a park near her. Anamika said she had been in a relationship with him and that he had introduced himself to her as “Yash Thakur.”
The confrontation escalated when Anamika tried to prevent Shahnawaz from leaving in his vehicle. Police said that, based on her complaint, the accused accelerated the car and struck her.
The video circulating online has drawn attention to the incident. Anamika is heard in the footage asking the driver to stop the car before she falls from the bonnet. The woman was injured and taken to hospital.
Anamika filed a written complaint against Shahnawaz after the incident. Police began investigating the circumstances of the confrontation, including the sequence captured in the video and the allegations made by the woman.
The arrest represents a further development in the Lucknow case. Police will interview the accused and examine the evidence if necessary. The circumstances leading up to the confrontation and the events recorded in the video will be analyzed to determine the sequence of events.

Police are also investigating Anamika’s allegation that Shahnawaz concealed his identity during their relationship. The woman has made the allegation and continues to investigate.
The incident happened near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Extension area and has attracted much attention after the video appeared on social media.
The case is now expected to proceed through the legal process as a result of the arrest. The investigators will determine any crimes related to the vehicle from the evidence gathered, the victim's complaint, witness statements, and the circumstances.
