A motorcyclist was injured after falling into a pit formed by a road cave-in at IT Crossing in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It rains a lot here and road safety and civic infrastructure are poor in a city during the monsoon season.
The road surface gave way and formed a pit near the busy IT Crossing area, the information said. The motorcyclist who was on the stretch fell into the opening and suffered injuries, officials said.
The incident shows the dangers commuters face when roads are weak or damaged after heavy rain, officials said.
Driving in heavy rains puts a lot of pressure on roads and highways; particularly under water pressure where drainage systems cannot take much water.
