Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha yesterday visited Lalpora in Beerwah, Budgam, to meet family members of martyr Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who lost his life in the line of duty during the terror attack in Anantnag earlier this week.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and paid tribute to the police officer’s ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. Sinha told the family that the administration is there for them at this time and will be there for them in every way.

Ashiq Hussain Qureshi was killed as he was performing his duty in the terror attack in Anantnag, and security forces were deployed for a large-scale counter-terrorism operation across the district. At the same time, people, politicians, and citizens of India were angry at the attack.
Manoj Sinha was in the family room, as he spoke to them and praised them for the gallantry, dedication, and selfless service of the fallen police officer. Security personnel’s contributions to the defense and security of the country and the peace in Jammu and Kashmir will always be remembered with great gratitude and respect, he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also hailed the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their dedication and commitment to fighting terrorism at a time of war and challenge, especially in the state of Kashmir. Police and other security forces’ courage is the backbone of protection of civilians and stability in the Union Territory and the lives of the people and of the Union Territory and their safety of people who live in the state.
The Anantnag attack has led to increased security measures in South Kashmir. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, and other departments have all launched joint search operations to locate the culprits. There are many checkpoints, surveillance, and area domination exercises being carried out in the process of counter-terror.
