The family’s account shared on social media said that the attack took place at night when the occupants of a car bearing registration number KA 13 N 4610 intercepted and attacked them. The victims said the assault involved a husband, wife, an elderly woman, and children, and shook them up.

The family claimed that the attackers acted aggressively in the middle of the expressway, making what could have been a normal trip into a frightening one. The alleged attack has caused outrage online, with people worried about the safety of travellers on one of Karnataka’s busiest and most modern highways.

If the allegations are true, then the incident would be a major road rage incident and violence on a major national highway. Commuters are concerned that not only are those driving the car in danger, but also that those driving the car are in danger of getting in the way of others who are going fast enough.

Road safety advocates have called for immediate intervention by the Karnataka police and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to enable authorities to find out who the individuals are on the CCTV footage, toll plaza data, and any dashcam recordings.

Citizens also want highway patrol and emergency response to be more robust, and aggressive driving and violent behaviour on expressways to be banned. A lot of people believe that visible police presence and action against the offenders are required for public confidence in highway safety.

The police have not officially confirmed the allegations and haven’t released details on any arrests yet. It is also not clear if a formal police complaint or First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. The claims are based on the account that the affected family has given, and an official investigation will now determine the facts of the case.

It just goes to show that road-rage incidents can quickly escalate into dangerous situations when drivers are on fast routes, and there is no doubt that if you get in a car with someone aggressive, they will get hurt with it.

The alleged assault has intensified calls for swift legal action and stronger security measures to ensure that the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway remains a safe route for families, tourists, and daily commuters.
