What is ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’?
The ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative has been organised as part of the birthday celebrations. People were encouraged to light diyas at their homes and at designated locations as a sign of blessing for the Prime Minister.
The initiative was planned in more than 500 prominent places in the country. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said 1.25 lakh diyas would be lit at Vijay Chowk and Kartavya Path on the evening of September 17.
Seva Sankalp Abhiyan Marks Birthday
The birthday celebrations are also linked to the BJP's month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, running from September 17 to October 17.
The campaign also involves blood donation drives, health initiatives, cleanliness programmes and public outreach activities and so on. The initiative also marks Modi's 25 years in public life—from his days as Chief Minister in 2001 to 2014 as Gujarat to his last year as PM.
