The mass lamp-lighting programme will be among the major events taking place in Madhya Pradesh on PM Modi’s birthday and the BJP’s campaign highlighting his 25 years in public life. The state government had announced a large-scale diya ceremony at Mahakal Lok in Ujjain for September 17. There are reports that the number of lamps will be around 25 lakh.

Nitin Nabin To Join Ujjain Diya-Lighting Event

Nitin Nabin will reach Ujjain on Thursday morning after attending some of the programmes in Indore. He will perform Shipra Aarti at Ram Ghat at 6:45 PM and light the symbolic 'Ashirwad Ka Diya'. A Bhajan Sandhya is scheduled at Ram Ghat later in the evening.

The Ujjain programme is part of the Seva Sankalp initiative being organised by the BJP around the Prime Minister's birthday. Nabin has separately appealed to people to light an 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' at their homes between 6 pm and 7 pm on September 17 and pray for PM Modi's long life and good health.

The planned Ujjain event will bring together a large number of lamps along the Kshipra riverfront, creating a major public programme in the city. The event is also closely related to the wider activities taking place in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country during the month-long campaign.

Seva Sankalp Campaign Marks PM Modi's 25 Years in Public Life

The BJP's Seva Sankalp campaign will be organised from September 17 as the party commemorates PM Modi's birthday and honours him for 25 years in public service. Modi became chief minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and was elected Prime Minister in 2014. BJP programmes on the mark are being held in different states across the country in celebration of the anniversary.

In Madhya Pradesh, the campaign includes activities for public participation, government schemes, cleanliness, welfare outreach and other organisational activities. The Ujjain diya-lighting ceremony is among the major events planned for the opening day.

The 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' programme has also been promoted as a symbolic public participation programme. Nabin’s appeal asked people to light lamps at home on the Prime Minister's birthday. The BJP has connected the campaign with its broader messaging around Modi’s years in public service.

Nitin Nabin to Launch SVAMITVA Registration Process in Indore

Before travelling to Ujjain, Nabin is going to be at a programme in Indore. He will launch a new registration process under the SVAMITVA scheme at Gandhi Nagar Ground.

SVAMITVA, or Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas, is a government project for mapping rural inhabited areas and to provide property-related records to eligible rural residents. The Indore programme is about introducing a new registration process in Madhya Pradesh rather than a scheme itself.

Nabin will arrive at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore before attending the programme and then travelling to Ujjain for the evening events.

Mahakaleshwar Temple Visit on September 18

Nabin will stay overnight in Ujjain after the Ram Ghat programmes. On the morning of September 18, he is going to visit Mahakaleshwar Temple and attend Bhasma Aarti.

As per the itinerary, the BJP president is expected to attend the early-morning ritual at the temple and leave Ujjain for Indore. The visit brings a religious dimension to his two-day Madhya Pradesh schedule and combines party activities, SVAMITVA registration and PM Modi’s birthday celebrations.

With 25 lakh diyas planned along the Kshipra riverfront, Ujjain is to be one of the key venues for the September 17 celebrations. The event will be part of a wider set of events being organised by the BJP to celebrate PM Modi's birthday and the 25-year public service milestone highlighted by the party.
