Narendra Modi met the participants of Seva Yatra from Varanasi to Vadnagar and highlighted the importance of public service, national welfare and the collective effort of all to make India self-reliant. In this meeting, the Prime Minister told the participants to face each and every challenge with confidence and commitment to service.
The PM Modi said India has to keep trying to become self-reliant, as he spoke at the Seva Yatris that India has to continue to work towards self-reliance. He conceded this journey would be hard but said that the country has the values to deal with difficult times and has the mindset to face challenges in a direct way and to go through it in a meaningful way. And for this reason, these values are the basis for those values to motivate the Prime Minister that motivate him and others to continue to work for the national interest.
This interaction was very much about service as a basis for the nation to move forward. PM Modi told the participants that they need to do what they do every day with energy and a kind of service and commitment. He also said national development is not only about government projects but citizen participation and commitment as well.
The Seva Yatra connecting Varanasi and Vadnagar brings people together on a journey of service and public engagement. Varanasi and Vadnagar are also public locations of PM Modi’s political life. Varanasi has been his parliamentary constituency and Vadnagar in Gujarat is his hometown.
Modi stressed that when working against obstacles we must take a constructive approach to problems and we need to keep the attitude of the Seva Yatris in mind when we face challenges and there has to be a positive attitude and we have to work towards it. The challenges we are going to have to face will still be there and the response to them will be determination and willingness to work, he said from the start. He stressed the need to turn difficulties into opportunities for collective action and to change the world.
The Prime Minister also reminded the people that “service to the people is service to the nation.” And his message is about the larger public participation and social responsibility that he is putting his government's thrust on. By linking service to the national welfare, PM Modi made the point that everyone’s contributions to the service are not just in their own right but in the wider national goal.
