Narendra Modi's 76th birthday on September 17, 2026 will be celebrated on September 17, 2026 with a series of programmes to celebrate the Bharatiya Janata Party's month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. One of the major events on September 17 is “Aashirwad Ka Diya”. BJP leaders announced that lamps will be lit at 7 pm as part of the birthday programme, and the initiative is based on prayers for the health and long life of the Prime Minister. Citizens and beneficiaries of the public are also suggested to light lamps at 7 pm on September 17.
The celebrations are expected to go beyond a day. BJP national president Nitin Nabin announced the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan as a month-long programme from September 17 to October 17. The project will include service-oriented activities, blood donation drives, public outreach programs, and other activities.
The twin youth-led Seva Yatras that will be part of the celebrations will be between Vadnagar in Gujarat and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Vadnagar is associated with Modi’s early life and birthplace, and Varanasi is the parliamentary constituency he represented in the Lok Sabha.
According to the program details, 10 teams will travel from Vadnagar to Varanasi and 10 teams will be crossing in the other direction. More than 1,000 young participants are expected to take part in the journey. The yatras will start on 17 September and conclude on 7 October, and will be a symbolic link between the two places.

The journeys are organized around service and public engagement as a theme. They will perform service and public engagement activities in several states and interact with villagers, farmers, Anganwadi workers, youth groups, and students, the report states. Government welfare programmes and public feedback and discussion around government welfare programs are also planned as part of the activities.
The October 7 date has a special significance for the BJP because it is Modi's birthday anniversary, as it is the 25th year since he became Gujarat Chief Minister. His birthday is therefore connected to the larger celebration of his 25 years in public service.
The “Aashirwad Ka Diya” programme is also being organized at the state and local level. In Haryana, for instance, the BJP announced plans to light 20 lakh diyas on September 17. In Gujarat, reports have described programmes involving tens of thousands of lamps and prayers on the Prime Minister’s birthday.
