According to police, the incident took place late on Monday night in the Kudale Vasti area. The accused, identified as Pradeep Gundare, and the victim, Balaji Khandade, were distant relatives who had come to Pune from different districts of Maharashtra in search of work. Both were employed at the same construction project and were staying in the workers’ colony at the site.

Argument Over Cooking Turns Violent

Investigators said the two men got into an argument around 11:30 pm over who would cook dinner. What started as a minor disagreement quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. During the heated exchange, Gundare allegedly picked up an LPG cylinder and struck Khandade on the head.

The impact caused severe injuries to the victim, who collapsed on the spot. Fellow workers rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Accused Arrested After Fleeing

After the attack, the accused reportedly fled from the scene. However, police from the MIDC Bhosari Police Station launched a search operation and arrested him shortly afterward.

A case has been registered against Gundare under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and whether any additional factors contributed to the violent altercation.

Growing Concern Over Workplace Disputes

The incident has raised concerns about living conditions and stress among migrant workers at construction sites, where cramped accommodation and work pressure can sometimes lead to conflicts. Authorities are continuing their investigation while also questioning other workers who were present at the colony during the incident.
