The deceased woman has been identified as Ashwini Timmareddy, a resident of Hokrani village.

According to her family, Ashwini went outside her home to defecate Wednesday night. She didn’t return home after leaving the house.

Her family got worried when she didn’t come back and began searching for her.

The search continued until Thursday morning, when family members reportedly found Ashwini’s body in a well in the village.

The discovery shocked the family and local residents.

Sirwar police were informed about the incident and reached the location. Officers began investigating the circumstances which led to Ashwini's death.

Police believe unidentified assailants may have attacked and killed the woman and then thrown her body into the well, the police say.

What happened to Ashwini Timmareddy?

Ashwini left home Wednesday night, according to her family. She was going outside to defecate and was expected to return soon.

When she did not come back her family members started looking for her.

They went on to the well and found her body the next morning.

The circumstances of her death have caused great concern in the village. Police suspect the woman was sexually assaulted before she died.

But the rape allegation remains part of the police investigation and will need to be established through medical and forensic evidence.

Police have not identified the people responsible for the woman's death.

Police are investigating how Ashwini reached the well and how she came to the well before her body was found.

Investigators will then assess the location, collect forensic evidence and question people who might have information about her movements on Wednesday evening.

The circumstances surrounding the well will be examined to determine if Ashwini was killed elsewhere and her body was later thrown into it.

The police have registered a case at the local station and started an investigation.

The postmortem examination will be useful for determining the cause and manner of death. It may also provide investigators with evidence for the suspected sexual assault.

Police Investigation Into Suspected Murder

The discovery of Ashwini's body has led to an investigation by Sirwar police.

Police officers visited the spot following information and started collecting evidence. They will need to establish a clear timeline from the time Ashwini left her home until her body was discovered.

Police will also speak with Ashwini’s family members and other people from Hokrani village.

And investigators may check whether anyone saw Ashwini after she left home or noticed suspicious activity in the area.

The case has also raised concerns about the safety of women in rural areas, especially when they have to travel outside their homes for basic needs.

So far, police have called the killing a murder investigation. The exact facts will be clearer as the investigation progresses.

The identity of the suspected attackers is not yet known and police have not announced any arrests based on the information available, they said.

Authorities will also have to determine whether the sexual assault occurred before the killing and whether the body was deliberately thrown into the well to conceal the crime.

The case has worried residents of Hokrani village and in Raichur district.

To Ashwini's family, the loss has been a sudden and devastating one. She left home on Wednesday evening and was found dead the following morning.

Now we have to find out who did this, what happened during those hours?

Police will have to rely on witness statements, forensic evidence, medical findings and other evidence to reconstruct the events.

Until the investigation is complete, the allegations of rape and murder will remain subject to confirmation.

The case once more has highlighted the need for quick investigations and strong safety measures when women go missing.

Now it is up to the authorities to trace Ashwini’s death and to investigate the reasons for the incident.
