A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed by his wife in Limba village of Kuntala mandal in Telangana's Nirmal district following a domestic dispute, police said. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody after investigators found her to be connected to the crime.
Investigators found that the deceased had drunk alcohol before the incident and attacked his grandfather, police said. The fight between the man and his wife took place in their home, police said.
Police said in the course of the investigation they found that after the scuffle, the wife hanged her husband and he died. She attempted to destroy evidence after the incident by cleaning blood stains at the scene and changing the deceased's clothes, police said.
Police recovered the deceased’s blood-stained shirt, which they described as an important piece of evidence in the case. Forensic evidence and other material evidence from the scene played a big role in reconstructing the sequence of events, according to officials.
The accused woman was taken to police for questioning, and the nature of the incident was investigated. She was formally arrested and produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police have not identified the deceased or the accused, and a police investigation is ongoing to establish what happened. Family members' and witnesses’ accounts have been recorded, and forensic reports are being prepared for further investigation.
The case has drawn attention in the region due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the alleged murder and the alleged attempt to conceal evidence. Authorities are investigating whether there were previous domestic disputes between the couple and if alcohol was involved in the events.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined before the filing of a final chargesheet. The evidence collected so far, including the recovered clothing and witness statements, will be a part of the prosecution’s case, officials said.
