The deceased was Parameshwar Naik, a resident of Shinganamane village in Sirasi taluk. Early investigations revealed that the victim was killed in a premeditated attack, and the police suspect that the killing was carried out as it was the result of a conspiracy by his wife and her alleged partner.

The woman was in an extramarital relationship with a man who was a close relative of the family, said police sources.

Parameshwar Naik was aware of the alleged relationship between his wife and the other man, the police said. But he did not take any drastic action, for his children and he did not want to cause any harm to the family to be disturbed.

It is believed that the accused woman feared that her husband would eventually become an obstacle to her relationship with the alleged lover. Police have said she then conspired with the man to kill her husband in a forest near Shinganamane village.

Based on the evidence and witness testimony, Sirasi Rural Police launched an investigation. According to the investigators, they found evidence that the wife of the victim was involved in planning and committing the crime. Based on the evidence, police arrested the woman and registered a criminal case against her.

The alleged lover, who is also a co-accused in the case, is currently on the run. Police have formed special teams to trace and apprehend him. Search operations are being conducted at various points, and officials said they are confident that the absconding accused will be arrested soon.

Police officials have not disclosed every detail in the investigation because some aspects of the case are still being verified. Forensic evidence, digital records, and witness testimonies are being examined to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the individual roles of each accused.

Prosecutors are still trying to find out whether the murder was premeditated over a long period of time or if it was a sudden escalation of personal disputes. Relatives, neighbours, and other persons familiar with the family are interviewing relatives, neighbours, and other people who were nearby to try to figure out the circumstances of the time frame.

The case has sent shockwaves through Shinganamane village as residents were shocked at the alleged crime. For all the reasons that have come to light - unresolved domestic disputes and alleged relationship disputes that escalate into violent incidents - the violence is coming all over again.

Police are pleading with the public not to spread rumours or conclusions while the investigation is on the line. The charges against the accused will be tested, and more evidence will be submitted to the police for prosecution, the official said.

The arrested woman is still in police custody while efforts to catch the absconding co-accused are ongoing. Sirasi Rural Police confirmed that the investigation was ongoing and further details would be revealed as more evidence was gathered.
