Vijay Faces Case Over Roadshow: Chennai Police Book TVK Leaders Before Tamil Nadu Elections

This lawsuit brought against actor Vijay and some key party members of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) was registered by Chennai police. Vijay has landed in legal trouble ahead of the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu, and after his trial, legal troubles appeared in Tamil Nadu. It is charged this case involved a roadshow which was reported to have illegally crossed over the busy areas of Chennai.

As alleged, the Mambalam police were compelled to take action on 16 April after there was a complaint from an Election Commission flying squad officer. The charges in this case were leveled against Vijay. Vijay's prosecution by the police was taken by police as well as TVK at the Local District Court of Tamil Nadu. In addition to Vijay, TVK general secretary.

Anand (known as Bussy Anand) and South Chennai district secretary Appunu have been identified in the complaint. It was reported that although a particular permission had been granted for an established place, Vijay apparently went on to stage a roadshow, which was conducted in major areas like T Nagar, Thousand Lights, and Egmore. They are some of the busiest areas in Chennai and the unexpected juntas reportedly made traffic problems worse. It was one of Vijay’s most high-profile moves away from the stage ever.

As he made his way from cinema to politics, the mass crowds at the roadshow were the strongest expressions of public appeal. The street cheered cheering him as he drove behind the wheel of a freestanding vehicle. With the aid of Vijay from some TVK candidates namely those campaigned from Thousand Lights, T Nagar and Egmore constituencies, an even larger group of TVK candidates joined Vijay during the roadshow.

The police were using provisions in Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), addressing disobedience to orders issued by a public servant. The case illustrates the stringent adherence to election laws which include laws for public gatherings, and for campaigning. And as of now neither Vijay nor the TVK leadership has put forth any official statement to address the charges. And this has come as Vijay’s political life as an evolving path. Not so impressive, though, as his foray into politics has not been smooth sailing. In 2021, his father S. A. Chandrasekhar attempted to initiate his political party.

In the name of Vijay, though, the actor legally opposed the move, and subsequently his family fell apart and the party disintegrated temporarily. It is now official political representation for TVK, Vijay, to the public mind, stands and sings from the lips of both Indians and international affairs analysts all over again. Yet instances like the current controversy illustrate the difficulties of maneuvering within political and legal frameworks, particularly in elections. “This news has prompted everyone to pay their attention to the situation going forward and whether Vijay can retain political momentum in Tamil Nadu at all as the elections are near.”
