A 40-year-old woman was gang raped and sexually assaulted in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, and the attack took place in her home, police said. Police have detained two youths for the attack in the home where she was alone.
The attack took place late on Friday, August 28, the police said. The woman was found unconscious and injured at her home the next morning, and neighbours quickly contacted police and assisted her to go to the hospital.

The incident was discovered Saturday when neighbours were concerned about the woman, the police said. She was found unconscious and injured in her home, police said.
Neighbours notified the police about the situation. The woman was taken to a private hospital for treatment before being transferred to Vijayawada Government General Hospital.
She had a medical examination at the government hospital as part of the investigation. Police have also recorded her statement and are collecting information on what allegedly happened at the residence.
It was the woman alone in her apartment when the incident occurred, police said. Two youths from the neighborhood are believed to have entered her home and sexually attacked her, they said.
Police said the suspects were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The circumstances of their entry into the house and what followed are still under investigation.
Two Youths Detained In Connection With Case
Nunna Circle Inspector Ahmed Ali said two youths have been detained for the attack.
Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for gang rape. Now investigators are trying to piece together the sequence of events and understand the circumstances in which the alleged crime took place.
The woman’s statement is the key to the investigation. The police are also investigating witness accounts and medical evidence in this case as well.
The detention of the two youths does not prove their guilt. The actual involvement will be established through the police investigation and legal process.
The investigators will be able to get at what happened in the house and what caused the woman’s injury and unconsciousness.
Police Continue Investigation
Police continue to investigate the case and verify the allegations. Medical results, the woman’s testimony and neighbours’ information are all being taken into account by investigators.
