The young golfing talent Vishesh Sharma from Hyderabad is in the spotlight at the Telangana Golconda Masters 2026 as he leads by four going into the final round of the tournament.
The 19-year-old player had another impressive performance in the third round and set a six-under-par 64 to bring his total score to 20-under 190 after 54 holes. The solid performance of the young golfer has put him in a position to contend for the title at Hyderabad Golf Association.
Sharma started the tournament at a remarkable 10-under 60 in the opening round. The score was the course record and immediately made him one of the leading contenders. His first-round card was an eagle, nine birdies and only one bogey.
He continued his strong run in the second round with a four-under 66. That score kept him on the top of the leaderboard, where he was tied with Noida’s Amardeep Malik at 14-under 126 after two rounds.
Sharma’s third round was crucial. While Malik still remained in the race, Sharma’s six-under 64 helped him to make a huge gap at the top.
With four shots separating him from his nearest competitors, the Hyderabad golfer now has an excellent chance to take advantage of a strong tournament to make the big professional win.
Sharma has another new dimension to his play, playing at home. The familiarity of the Hyderabad Golf Association course seems to have assisted the teenager in keeping his rhythm and confidence high.
The event has also developed many promising young Indian golfers. One of the most promising of all is 15-year-old Arjunveer Shishir, who shot a seven-under 63 in the second round and became the youngest player to make the cut in a DP World Professional Golf Tour of India event.
The Telangana Golconda Masters features a ₹1 crore prize pool and is part of the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India calendar. The tournament will conclude with the final round at Hyderabad Golf Association.
Sharma’s final 18 holes will be the biggest test of the week. A four-shot gap can provide some respite but he will still have experienced players to contend with.
His outstanding start, record-equalling opening round and consistent scoring have already made him one of the biggest stories of the tournament.
Now all the attention will be on Sharma as he tries to finish the job and claim the Telangana Golconda Masters title on his home course.
