India's campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya will begin with a sport that is making its debut at the continental multi-sport event. Teqball will be India’s first competitive activity at the Games, with three Indian athletes going to compete in men’s doubles, women’s singles and mixed doubles.
Mohamed Anas Imran Beg, Declan Marshall Gonsalves and Quimcy Dsouza are representing India in teqball at the 20th Asian Games. The teqball competition will be held from September 17 to 20 at Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.
Although the official opening ceremony of the Asian Games is scheduled for September 19, sporting events already started earlier, with teqball among the disciplines starting before the ceremony. India's first competition will be the men's doubles pair of Anas and Declan.

Mohamed Anas Imran Beg and Declan Marshall Gonsalves will compete in the men's doubles event. The Indian pair will be in Group B alongside Vietnam and South Korea.
Their first group-stage match is against Vietnam’s Truong Giang Ba and Anh Khoa Le on September 17. The match is scheduled at 1:30 PM Japan Standard Time, which corresponds to 10:00 AM Indian Standard Time.
Then the Indian pair will face South Koreans Junsuk Lee and Taebeen Lee at 2:00 PM Japan time (10:30 IST) on September 17 at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.
The men's doubles competition features 24 pairs. The group stage results will determine progression into the knockout rounds, and there is also a repechage route. The quarter-finals are held on September 17.
The Indian pair enters the competition with international experience. Anas and Declan won a bronze medal in men’s doubles at the 2024 World Teqball Championships in Vietnam, which gives them international experience at the top level before their Asian Games debut.
Quimcy Dsouza to compete in Women’s Singles and Mixed Doubles
Quimcy Dsouza will represent India in two events at the Asian Games. She’ll compete in women’s singles and will also partner Anas in the mixed doubles event.
Dsouza has been drawn in women's singles in Group A. She’s going to meet Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto in Group A and Cambodia’s Koemyean Dy on September 18. Ms. Dsouza is a seven-time national champion and will be one of India's key players in the individual event.
The mixed doubles event will begin on September 18, with Anas and Dsouza to represent India. Qualification and knockout stages are scheduled on the same day, and the Indian duo will try to make it to the semi-finals on September 19.
The three Indian athletes will therefore have a busy opening phase of the Games. Anas will compete in men's doubles and mixed doubles, while Dsouza will take part in women's singles and mixed doubles. Declan will compete in men's doubles.
Teqball makes its Asian Games debut in Aichi-Nagoya.
The 2026 Asian Games mark the first time teqball has been a medal sport at the Asian Games. Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles are the events. India is involved in three of those events.
Teqball is played on a specially designed curved table with a football. Players can’t use hands or arms and must return the ball using permitted parts of the body. The sport combines football, freestyle skills and table-based rallying, with players allowed a maximum of three touches before returning the ball.
The overall teqball schedule runs from September 17 to September 20. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 19, and the medal matches and finals are scheduled for September 20.
For Indian fans, the teqball campaign will be the first chance to see the country's athletes in action at Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The men's doubles team Anas and Declan will open India's campaign on September 17, and Dsouza's singles and mixed doubles will start on September 18.
