For football fans all over the world, it is the best moment. Neymar has been one of the greatest players of the modern era and has spent years being up front with legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. At 34, there is also speculation that this is also the Brazilian star’s last World Cup appearance. That possibility drove him to his return even more emotionally as fans roared for the moment every time he got into a match.
Neymar played only a cameo but his return is certainly a huge boost for Brazil going into the knockout rounds. Morocco continued to show that their historic World Cup victories in recent years didn’t just come from nowhere. The Atlas Lions were able to come back from being down 1-0 to Haiti to win 4-2. But Morocco didn’t panic and they played with confidence, quality and attacking intent, scoring 4 goals to win.
One player who once again stole the show was 25-year-old Ismael Saibari. The gifted midfielder added another goal to his impressive tally and delivered a brilliant all-round performance. He has been named the most impressive in every match as a talent and now it is clear to see that European big clubs are monitoring him closely as well. Saibari is not just scoring goals, he is taking control of the game as a player, as well as providing the creativity that makes Morocco such a dangerous team.
With Brazil winning their group, Vinícius Jr making the best football of his international career, Neymar making his long-awaited return and Morocco still playing well, the World Cup is on the rise. The group stage may be over, but the big battles are only just beginning.
