In a thrilling high-scoring encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a commanding performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs in Match 11 of Indian Premier League 2026. The defending champions lived up to fan expectations with a dominant display in both batting and bowling departments, handing CSK their third consecutive defeat.
Batting first, RCB posted a massive total of 250 runs, showcasing their explosive batting depth. Despite a cautious start where they failed to hit a boundary in the first three overs, the momentum shifted dramatically from the fourth over onwards. Virat Kohli played a quickfire innings of 28 runs, setting the tone, while Phil Salt contributed a steady 46 to stabilize the innings.
The real acceleration came through Devdutt Padikkal, who continued his excellent form by scoring a fluent 50, marking his second consecutive half-century. He guided RCB past the 150-run mark before the middle and lower order took complete control. Captain Rajat Patidar and Tim David unleashed a brutal assault in the death overs. The duo added a staggering 97 runs in the final five overs, with Tim David smashing 70 runs off just 25 balls in a breathtaking display of power hitting. RCB ended their innings with 19 sixes and 14 boundaries.
Chasing a daunting target of 251, CSK’s innings got off to a disastrous start. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (7) and Sanju Samson (9) were dismissed early, leaving the team struggling at 30 for 3. Although Sarfaraz Khan fought back with a rapid 50 off just 25 balls, his efforts were short-lived as Krunal Pandya struck twice in a single over to derail CSK’s recovery.
The middle-order collapse continued as CSK lost five wickets for just 84 runs, effectively ending their chances of a comeback. Shivam Dube failed to capitalize, getting out for 18. A brief fightback came from youngsters Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37), who added 57 runs quickly, but it wasn’t enough.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar played a crucial role in sealing the game, picking up 3 wickets and breaking key partnerships. He was well supported by Duffy, Krunal Pandya, and Abhinandan Singh, who claimed two wickets each.
CSK were eventually bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs, falling well short of the target. With this victory, RCB continued their strong start to the season at home, while CSK were left searching for answers after another disappointing outing.
