Spanish football is mourning the death of Jesús de Miguel Alameda, CD Tenerife striker who died on November 3 2026 at age 30 after a serious on-field accident (one day after the game against FC Andorra in the Spanish second division). His teammates, club officials, supporters and the whole football community are grieving.
Beyond the sad circumstances of his death De Miguel leaves behind a football journey based on determination, hard work and a slow climb up Spain’s domestic leagues.
Who Was Jesús de Miguel?
Jesús de Miguel (Madrid, 21 September 1996) was a Spanish professional footballer who played as a centre-forward. He was about 1.90 m tall and was known for his presence in attack and goalscoring ability.
He started his senior career with Leganés B in 2015. He didn’t become an overnight star; De Miguel played his way through several Spanish clubs gaining experience and improving his goalscoring ability.
He played for Lugo Fuenlabrada, Internacional de Madrid, Fuenlabrada, Unión Adarve, Navalcarnero and Unionistas de Salamanca.
Castellón Became a Turning Point
One of the most important chapters in De Miguel’s career was with CD Castellón between 2023 and 2025.
He scored 25 goals during his spell at the club who promoted to Spain’s second division. His 16 goals in the successful 2023–24 season were particularly significant.
Those performances got him noticed by clubs playing at a higher level and the door opened to the next stage of his career.
His Journey With CD Tenerife
On 8 July 2025 CD Tenerife officially announced that De Miguel had signed a three-year contract.
It was another opportunity for Madrid-born striker. He continued to play in attack and scored 11 goals during the 2025–26 season to help Tenerife in its campaign.
He was a key cog in the club’s forward line and was continuing his professional career when tragedy struck.

What Happened During Tenerife vs Andorra Match?
On 2 November 2026 Tenerife played FC Andorra in a Spanish second division game at Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.
De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono as he moved out to challenge for the ball in the closing stages of the match; Owono's knee hit Tenerife forward in the chest.
De Miguel collapsed and medical staff ran onto the pitch to help him. He was taken to hospital while the match (2-2) at that stage was abandoned in stoppage time.
Tenerife said he was in serious but stable condition but the club announced his death at 8:00 AM local time (November 3) that day.
A Legacy Beyond Football
De Miguel’s contribution wasn’t just on the pitch; he was a member of the board of Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) where he supported players and defended their professional rights.
The association remembered him as someone who cared about football and fellow professionals.
The Spanish Football Federation, Real Madrid, Barcelona, FC Andorra and several other football organisations all expressed their condolences. The federation postponed cup fixtures as a mark of respect.
Jesús de Miguel’s journey from Spanish lower-league football to the professional game was years in the making. His life and career ended far too soon but his contribution to the clubs and people he represented will be part of his legacy.
Rest in peace, Jesús de Miguel.
