The FIFA World Cup had another great day of football on March 1 with three entertaining games to watch with determination, quality and the tournament getting more and more intense.
The first match of the day saw the United States claim a 2-0 win against Australia. The score may suggest a comfortable win but the match was far from that for the Americans. That hard-working Australia was so hard on the Americans at the end of the day, and to them it was always hard to defend the game.
As soon as Freeman got that win in his hands he scored what would turn out to be the deciding goal. His performance gave the United States the confidence to play well and to keep it alive. Australia continued to fight and made a last push at the end of the match but an own goal late in the match doomed them. But Australia had to be proud of its spirit of fighting and kept going until the final whistle.
Moroccan victory in the second match continues Morocco's fine form with a 1-0 victory over Scotland in the second match. The North African side showed that they have once more how well organized and disciplined their performance was, making them one of the tournament's most challenging sides, which has earned them a narrow but crucial victory against Scotland.
The hero of the evening was Saibari whose goal separated the two sides. Scotland worked hard and did so as well and even had their own opportunities but Morocco’s defensive resilience kept the team strong. The victory gives Morocco another important three points and further strengthens their position in the competition.
The final match of the day was Brazil, one of the tournament favourites, who were feeling pressure. The Brazilian team suffered a draw with Morocco in their previous match and Brazil feared losing more than three points would hinder their progress in the World Cup.
The Brazilian players were so driven and determined from the opening whistle. They attacked with intent and were ready to make a statement. Matheus Cunha made a huge performance and scored twice in the first half, putting Brazil in control. His brace put the pressure on the team in a good way and the Brazilian supporters in the stands were up and going.
As the match continued Brazil continued to dominate possession and make chances. Vinícius Júnior added the third goal and the result was all but assured with a 3-0 win. Not only did Brazil pick up their first three points of the tournament but also the team’s confidence was restored.
As competition picked up, the United States, Morocco and Brazil all won important victories. Each game in the World Cup is more significant and these teams have shown that they are ready for the challenges ahead.
