TDP Leader's Vulgar Remarks on Bhavani: "Your A**.. Pu*** Hole.."

Tensions escalated during Andhra Pradesh's local-body election nomination process on Oct 21, as allegations emerged that supporters of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were obstructing opposition candidates from filing their nominations. One such incident was reported in Thottambedu mandal, near Srikalahasti in the Tirupati region, where Biyyapu Pruthvi Reddy, daughter of former MLA Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy, attempted to file her nomination papers while observing the Sri Bhavani Deeksha.

According to the account circulating alongside videos of the incident, Pavitra Reddy was travelling with a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MPTC candidate when local supporters allegedly attempted to block their way. The confrontation soon escalated, with viral videos purportedly showing TDP leaders using abusive and demeaning language towards Pavitra and her supporters.

The alleged remarks have drawn criticism not only over the treatment of a woman in public life but also because Pavitra was observing Bhavani Deeksha. The incident has consequently raised concerns among devotees over the alleged use of disrespectful language towards someone undertaking a religious vow.

Police Intervention and Protests

Police personnel reportedly intervened to control the situation and disperse the gathering, with a lathi charge allegedly used during the confrontation. Pavitra later confronted the police, claiming that she had been pushed forcefully and accusing officers of disrespecting her religious vows.

Reports circulating on social media also claimed that Pavitra Reddy was subsequently placed under house arrest by local authorities to prevent further disturbances. However, independent confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the alleged detention remains limited.

The incident comes amid growing political tensions between the ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP over the ongoing local-body nomination process. Across Andhra Pradesh, several videos have circulated on social media showing alleged obstruction, intimidation and the tearing of nomination papers.

The YSRCP has accused TDP supporters of preventing its candidates from filing nominations, while the dispute over the election process has reached the Supreme Court. The court directed the State Election Commission to examine complaints and supporting evidence concerning candidates who allegedly faced violence or obstruction.
