Renault has launched the 2026 Kwid in India with a starting price of Rs 4.53 lakh (ex-showroom) with a new variant line-up, cosmetic upgrades and safety features in the entry-level hatchback. The updated Kwid is available in Evolution and Climber trims with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options.

With the 2026 update, Renault has simplified the Kwid range by dropping the Authentic and Techno versions from the list. While the new base price is around Rs 22,000 higher than the entry-spec version, the Evolution and Climber trims are also going to be cheaper by up to Rs 14,000 and Rs 32,000 respectively. Renault will also supply a retrofitted CNG kit for manual versions at an additional cost of Rs 70,450.

The exterior shows subtle changes but not a complete redesign. Renault has introduced new 3D Renault badges, revised dual-tone wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels and silver-finished “Kwid” lettering on the tailgate. The hatchback is still equipped with LED daytime running lamps, halogen headlamps and the same front and rear bumper design as before.

The most obvious change inside the cabin is a new three-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Renault Kiger, which is equipped with integrated controls for the infotainment system. Most of the dashboard layout remains unchanged. The Kwid still has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster, manual air conditioning and power windows.

Safety has received a major boost, especially in the top-spec Climber variant. The Evolution trim has dual airbags, while the Climber now has six airbags. Other safety features include a rear parking camera with sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill start assist for AMT variants, ABS with EBD and seat belt reminders.

Mechanically, the 2026 Kwid remains unchanged. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine producing 69 hp and 92.5 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

The Kwid remains Renault’s most important product in India and has been competing in the entry-level hatchback segment with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. With a new price point, more safety features and a new look, Renault will be able to make the Kwid more popular with budget urban buyers looking for a compact and feature-laden hatchback.
