MG Hector Facelift Launched in India: A Detailed Look

MG Motor India has officially unveiled the facelifted versions of its popular SUVs, the MG Hector and Hector Plus in December 2025. This marks the second major refresh for the Hector since its debut in 2019, and the company is positioning the updated model to remain competitive in the crowded mid-size SUV segment. With sharper styling, enhanced features, and a more attractive price tag, the facelift aims to strengthen MG’s foothold in the Indian market.

Exterior Design

The most noticeable change in the facelift is the new Aura Hex Grille, finished in chrome, which gives the SUV a stronger and more assertive road presence. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to appear wider and bolder, enhancing the overall stance of the vehicle. MG has also introduced Aura Bolt alloy wheels, a fresh six-spoke split design that improves both stability and visual appeal. Adding to the cosmetic updates, a new Celadon Blue colour option has been launched, alongside existing shades, giving buyers more personalization choices.

Interior Enhancements

Inside, the Hector facelift features a refreshed cabin theme with improved materials and finishes. The highlight is the updated infotainment system, which now offers smoother performance, better connectivity, and gesture-based controls. The spacious layout that Hector is known for remains intact, but subtle tweaks in design and finish make the cabin feel more premium. MG has also added new colour schemes and upholstery options to elevate the in-cabin experience.

Engine and Performance

At launch, the facelifted Hector is available only with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The diesel variant, which has been a popular choice among buyers, is expected to return in 2026. Mechanically, MG has kept the SUV largely unchanged, focusing instead on design and feature upgrades. The petrol engine continues to deliver reliable performance, catering to urban and highway driving needs.

Pricing and Variants

One of the most significant updates is the pricing strategy. The MG Hector facelift is priced between ₹11.99 lakh and ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Hector Plus starts at ₹17.29 lakh. Interestingly, MG has introduced a price cut of up to ₹2.1 lakh compared to the outgoing model, making the facelift more affordable and appealing in its segment. Bookings are already open across MG dealerships and online platforms.

Market Position and Rivals

Since its launch in 2019, the Hector has been one of MG’s most successful models in India, credited with establishing the brand in the country. This facelift ensures the SUV remains competitive against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra XUV700. With its bold new look, improved technology, and aggressive pricing, MG hopes to continue its momentum and attract both new buyers and loyal customers.

The MG Hector facelift is more than just a cosmetic update. It represents MG’s strategy to stay relevant in a fast-evolving SUV market by offering value-driven upgrades without compromising on core strengths. With refreshed styling, enhanced interiors, and competitive pricing, the Hector facelift is well-positioned to remain a strong contender in India’s mid-size SUV segment.
