Bajaj Auto has expanded its popular Pulsar line-up with the launch of the Bajaj Pulsar N160 S at 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside the new model, the company has also introduced the Pulsar N160 SS, which gives customers more options in the premium 160cc motorcycle line-up.
The new additions will help Bajaj to strengthen its position in one of India’s most competitive motorcycle categories, where the Pulsar N160 competes with competitors like TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R, and Yamaha FZ.
The new Pulsar N160 S has a new look but the same aggressive streetfighter style that will make the N160 a popular choice among young riders. Sharp LED lighting, muscular fuel tank extensions, sporty graphics, and a sculpted tail section still define the motorcycle's appearance.
The addition of the SS variant expands the Pulsar N160 range further. Bajaj has kept the mechanical package, but the new variant is expected to appeal to customers who want more styling and feature differentiation in the line-up.
The familiar 164.82cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine powering both motorcycles is powerful enough for city commuting as well as highway cruising. The engine is combined with a 5-speed gearbox to get fuel efficiency and fast acceleration.
The Pulsar N160 is known for its refined engine, comfortable riding posture, and predictable handling. It still has telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock suspension, alloy wheels, and disc brakes with ABS for safe braking in all riding situations.
Bajaj has also fitted the motorcycle with modern technology that the modern consumer wants to see in today's bike. Depending on the variant, riders can expect a fully digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging, LED lighting, and more.
The launch reflects Bajaj Auto's continued focus on refreshing its motorcycle portfolio with updated variants rather than major mechanical changes. This strategy allows the company to offer greater value while keeping the Pulsar range competitive against newer rivals entering the market.
The 160cc category still accounts for the fastest-growing category in India on the basis of increasing demand from commuters looking for motorcycles that are fast but comfortable and look nice without much increase in ownership costs.
With a starting price of 1.34 lakh, the new Pulsar N160 S will be attractive for the first-time premium motorcycle buyer and the existing Pulsar fans looking to upgrade. The SS version also builds on the Bajaj range and gives the range more depth of options for the varying style of the motorcycle.
