Tata Aeris has entered the Indian compact sedan market with initial prices starting at Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The successor to the Tata Tigor, the new sedan has a refreshed look, new features and updated technology with petrol and CNG powertrain options. The Aeris competes with models such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.
Tata Aeris bookings are open and deliveries will begin on October 11. The sedan is available in five trims with Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished. This range also includes manual and automatic transmission options depending on the variant and fuel type.
Tata Aeris Price In India
Tata Aeris petrol manual range starts at Rs 5.29 lakh for the entry-level Smart and goes up to Rs 8.19 lakh for the best-form Accomplished version. Petrol AMT ranges start from the Pure at Rs 6.69 lakh and go up to Rs 8.74 lakh for Accomplished.
For customers looking for a CNG-powered sedan, the Aeris CNG manual is priced at Rs. 6.29 lakh to Rs. 9.19 lakh. The CNG AMT is also available from the Pure trim onwards, and is priced at Rs 7.69 lakh to Rs. 9.74 lakh for the top-end Accomplished version. All these prices are introductory and ex-showroom.
Tata Aeris Engine And Transmission Options
Mechanically, the Tata Aeris continues with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine. The sedan can also be launched with a CNG drivetrain, which would provide a more affordable running cost. The Aeris can be coupled with a manual or AMT gearbox depending on the variant and fuel type.
The combination of petrol and CNG options allows the Aeris to target the entire compact sedan market. The positioning of the car also places it against popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.
Updated Exterior Design
The Tata Aeris retains the basic notchback shape of the Tigor but has a few changes to the front end of the car to make it look more modern. The bonnet has been raised and the new front-end treatment gives it a more upright and planted stance.
The front and rear of the car have a slightly thinner gloss black grille and new lighting elements. The Aeris is now also fitted with redesigned bumpers. The sedan also has new 16-inch alloy wheels with wheel-arch cladding that make it look more imposing in its small form.
10.25-Inch Touchscreen And Premium Features
One of the key features of Tata Aeris is the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so the smartphone is connected to the system without any wired connection.
Depending on the variant, customers could also get wireless charging, automatic climate control and cruise control. Higher trims have added such features as ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming IRVM and height-adjustable driver’s seat.
419-Litre Boot Space
The Aeris has 419 litres of boot space, which provides luggage-carrying capacity for everyday family use and longer journeys. Tata has equipped the sedan with rear AC vents and a centre armrest with integrated cupholders.
