Tesla has released a new teaser about its next generation of its second-generation Roadster for fans ahead of its electric sports car to be launched on October 1, 2026. The first teaser, which goes into the front of the car, is on September 25 and has a truly huge full-width LED light bar in place while the rest of the car’s side is covered in shadows.
Latest Tesla Roadster Teaser
The short teaser offers very little information about the Roadster's complete design, but the illuminated horizontal light bar provides an early indication of its front-end styling.
It has also been releasing carefully controlled glimpses of the new Roadster rather than revealing the complete vehicle ahead of its October event. This month, Tesla also teased the October 1 date with a “Go for launch” message and updated its Roadster website with a countdown.
The October 1 event is set to take place in Waco, Texas, according to invitations sent to Roadster reservation holders and reports about Tesla's plans.
Roadster Specifications Still Under Wraps
Even though all the promises of Tesla for years of performance are still being made, Tesla has not revealed its final production specifications of the new Roadster.
The battery capacity, driving range, final acceleration figures, top speed, interior configuration, price, and customer deliveries are still unclear. We will have more information at the October presentation.
The Roadster was unveiled in 2017, so it’s nearly nine years after the first prototype launch. It’s been several years since the production plans were made for it.

SpaceX Thruster Technology
One of the most talked-about features of the Roadster is a SpaceX-inspired cold-gas thruster system. Elon Musk has already mentioned how to use the thrusters for extra performance and possibly even unusual demonstrations.
But the technology should not be treated as a standard production specification yet. A specialized version of the vehicle has been discussed, and possible demonstrations have been made, but Tesla has not publicly provided any details of the engineering or regulatory aspects for such a system.
$50,000 Roadster Reservation
Tesla has also reopened reservations for the new Roadster before the reveal. According to reports, customers are being asked for a $50,000 deposit, which is in line with Tesla’s premium positioning of the car in terms of price, even though its final price tag is not yet given publicly.
Tesla Semi Deliveries Begin
The Roadster teaser is coming from another important Tesla milestone. Reuters reported on September 24 that Tesla had started deliveries of its new electric truck, the Semi, to a small group of customers at its Nevada plant. The Semi was first proposed almost nine years ago and is intended to be a long-haul freight vehicle.
The developments put two very different Tesla products in the spotlight. The Semi is a commercial vehicle, while the Roadster is a high-performance electric sports car.
With the October 1 reveal coming up, the most pressing questions will be when Tesla will reveal final performance numbers, pricing, production plans, and details about the proposed thruster technology. For now, the teaser does point to one key design feature: a full-width LED light bar on the front of Tesla's next-generation Roadster.
