Google has officially released its Pixel 11 phones in India. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold are among the next devices, among others. The Pixel 11 Pro is the company’s top-tier phone to compete with the iPhone 17 Pro. The phones are the latest products of their companies with high-end hardware, high-quality cameras, powerful processors, and artificial intelligence. But the design, photography, software, performance, and ecosystem integration are completely different between the two devices.
Both smartphones have the same size in terms of design. The iPhone 17 Pro is 5.91 inches tall and 2.83 inches wide, and the Pixel 11 Pro is slightly taller and a little narrower. Both weigh 204 grams, which makes them comfortable for one-handed use, but still quite nice. Google still has its horizontal camera bar, and Apple keeps its raised camera module. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection is on the front and rear panels, and Apple uses its glass and metal frame for the front and back.
Display technology is a battleground between the two flagships. Both devices have a 6.3-inch OLED display with adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz. The iPhone 17 Pro has a Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2,622 x 1,206 and peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits. Google goes one step further with a Super Actua display with a sharper 2,856 x 1,280 pixel resolution and peak brightness of 3,600 nits. That is why the Pixel is the best for outdoor visibility and overall sharpness.
The camera systems of the two smartphones really show the biggest differences. Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro has a triple 48MP rear camera setup with a primary sensor, ultrawide lens, and telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. Apple also crops the camera to have more zoom options while maintaining image quality. Google has a 50MP main camera and 48MP ultrawide and telephoto cameras. The Pixel's telephoto lens has 5x optical zoom with Google's AI-driven Pro Zoom feature, which can reach up to 120x magnification. The Pixel also has a 42MP front-facing camera, which is significantly higher in resolution than the iPhone's 18MP Centre Stage camera.
Performance is one of the areas in which the companies have different philosophies. The iPhone 17 Pro has the A19 Pro chipset, which has a six-core CPU, a six-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine to provide industry-leading speed, efficiency, and machine learning performance. The Google Pixel 11 Pro has the Tensor G6 processor for artificial intelligence and machine learning tasks. Google thinks the Tensor G6 has a huge improvement over the previous version in terms of TPU computing capabilities. The Pixel has up to 16GB of RAM.
Artificial intelligence is at the heart of both devices. Apple’s ecosystem is based on Apple Intelligence, marrying on-device processing and cloud-based computing to boost productivity, communication, and creativity. Google integrates its Gemini AI ecosystem into the Pixel experience with features like Circle to Search, Live Translate, AI-powered photography tools, and contextual smart assistance through Gemini Nano.
Battery performance remains competitive. Apple is promising up to 33 hours of video playback on the iPhone 17 Pro, while Google is promising more than 30 hours of battery life for the Pixel 11 Pro with a 4,850mAh battery. The Pixel also supports Qi2.2 wireless charging through Google’s PixelSnap magnetic accessory ecosystem. Both are also IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
Pricing will be the most important factor for many customers in India. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at ₹1,34,900 for 256GB, while the Pixel 11 Pro is at ₹1,19,999 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. So Google’s flagship is much cheaper but has high specifications.
The choice between the Pixel 11 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro is all about user preference. People who want better AI capabilities, a better display, computational photography, and better value for their phone will prefer Google's. Users who are extremely connected to Apple’s ecosystem and want seamless integration across all devices will pick the iPhone 17 Pro.
