Google is taking on the role of its own chief leaker in its official social media teaser of the upcoming Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Widely shared on platforms such as X, the teaser provides tech fans with a front-row seat to the next generation of foldable devices as it goes out to the public on August 12 at the “Made by Google” event in New York and then for the first time in India on August 13 in the market. With official pre-orders going out August 12, Google is on the ground to get its new hardware to retail and consumers.
The new teaser video (released next week) shows a tighter, sleeker profile for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which is a thinner design without compromising on structural strength. Unlike the foldable makers like Samsung who chase ultra-thin dimensions like candy bar phones all the time, Google is taking a different route.
The Pixel foldable still has a nice wide aspect ratio on the cover screen, so when it’s closed it is something that’s familiar and easy to use on a daily basis. On the back of the phone is the familiar camera module island that has been integrated with triple sensors all along, but we know the hardware in the Pixel Glow (or HiLight) will be a customizable multicolored LED module that will be embedded into the camera bar to provide notifications and alerts to the phone.
Underneath the sleek chassis, the entire Pixel 11 series will run on Google’s highly custom silicon Tensor G6 chip. Based on an efficient 2-nanometer chip architecture, the new processor will focus on deep on-device artificial intelligence processing and power management. The foldable model will have a battery capacity of 4,800 mAh with flexible display design with a large 8.0-inch internal folding OLED screen and responsive 6.4-inch outer cover panel for smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
But these technological changes are expected to come with a price hike. Industry insiders and leaked retail listings indicate that Google will hike the price of all Pixel 11 devices, with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold possibly starting around $1,899 due to rising global component and memory costs. In addition to the phone line-up, the August 12 show is also expected to bring out ecosystem updates, with the Pixel Watch 5 and a new tracker device tentatively called Pixel Tag. As anticipation builds, next week's show will finally bring all the official specifications, regional pricing and availability details on the table.
