Children are curious energetic and don’t always know the dangers around them . A spark of excitement or distraction can make them run towards a busy road without knowing the risk . That is why parents and guardians have to be alert whenever children play walking or spend time near traffic .
Road safety is an important responsibility which starts at home . Children can run after the ball suddenly , cross a road to reach someone or move away from parents without warning .
Even one moment of inattention can put them into serious road accident. Such incidents are devastating for children and leave families with lifelong emotional pain .
Parents must know that keeping children safe takes constant attention especially in areas where vehicle is moving. Children should never be left to play near busy road , high ways parking areas where vehicle frequently moves . Even families neighborhood streets can become dangerous when drivers cannot notie3 a child entering the road unexpectedly.
Teaching road safety from an early age is just as important. Children should learn to recognise traffic signals, understand pedestrian crossings and look both ways before crossing a road; they must also be told running across streets, playing near moving vehicles and suddenly stepping onto the road are dangerous habits.
But that’s not enough: parents need to remind children of these rules repeatedly and model the behaviour themselves. Young children learn by watching adults so it is very important for parents to follow traffic rules when they walk or travel with them.

Holding a child’s hand when crossing roads is another simple but effective precaution. Parents shouldn’t distract themselves with mobile phones while looking after children near traffic. They should be paying attention to the movements of the child and his surroundings.
Schools and communities also play a role in raising awareness about child road safety. Educational activities, safety demonstrations and awareness campaigns can teach children about common road hazards. Drivers must slow down near residential areas, schools and playgrounds as children may unexpectedly enter the road.
The message is simple but very important: don’t ever think that children are safe when left near traffic. A few seconds extra supervision, regular safety lessons and responsible behaviour can make all the difference between accidents.
Childhood should be about happiness, learning and memorable experiences not preventable tragedies. Every parent wants to see their children grow up; have dreams come true and enjoy a safe future. Protecting them from road dangers is part of that responsibility.
A moment of carelessness can lead to consequences that last a lifetime. Parents need to be on guard, teach children about road safety and never leave them alone in dangerous traffic situations.
