The news soon spread in the neighbourhood. People came together, caught hold of the man and asked him where he was inside the house and what rituals he was performing there. Locals got angry with him as they suspected that he had tried to fool the family under the cover of religious activities.
The man was allegedly targeting single women and houses left empty. He reportedly used sweet talk and pretended to be a religious person to enter residential properties. People living in the surrounding areas (who are often alone at home) are anxious about these allegations.
Residents then tied up the accused and handed him over to police for further action. The incident has once again raised concerns about strangers entering homes pretending to be religious mendicants or spiritual practitioners.
Residents are now worried about families in the colony and have asked people to be alert if strangers come to their houses asking for alms or offering to perform religious rituals.
The incident also reminds us that letting unknown people into our homes without verification is a security risk. People should be careful when alone and inform the police immediately if they see anything suspicious.
Further details about the accused, police investigation and formal charges were not included in information about the incident.
