The much-anticipated film Dhurandhar 2 has run into unexpected trouble just hours before its scheduled premiere, leaving fans disappointed especially those who had booked tickets for Kannada and Telugu versions.
Censor Board Orders 21 Changes
The film received its certification on March 17, but not without complications. The censor board reportedly instructed the makers to implement 21 changes, primarily targeting scenes considered excessively violent. These edits have significantly delayed the final version of the film.
Due to these last-minute revisions, the production team is currently racing against time to re-edit and finalize the movie.
Regional Premieres Cancelled in Bengaluru
The impact has already been felt in Bengaluru, where premiere shows of the Kannada version scheduled at major multiplexes like PVR and Gopalan have been cancelled. Reports suggest that even the remaining scheduled show at YGR Mall is likely to be called off.
This sudden cancellation has disappointed many fans who were eagerly waiting to watch the film in their preferred language.
Hindi Version Gets Priority
At present, the makers are focusing primarily on completing the Hindi version. The edited version is being prepared for digital upload (UFO), while work on the second half is still underway. Sources indicate that only the first half of the digital copy has been delivered so far.
This has also raised concerns about whether the Hindi premiere itself might face delays.
Runtime Reduced After Edits
Originally, Dhurandhar 2 had a runtime of 3 hours and 55 minutes, but after the mandated cuts, the revised version now stands at 3 hours and 49 minutes.
Star Cast and Direction
The film stars Ranveer Singh in a lead role and is directed by Aditya Dhar, known for his previous successful projects.
Growing Concerns Over Release
While censorship issues are not new in the Indian film industry, the scale and timing of these changes have taken many by surprise. With editing still in progress and regional versions uncertain, the final release timeline of Dhurandhar 2 remains unclear.
For now, fans across Kannada and Telugu markets may have to wait a little longer to watch the film on the big screen.
