Jana Nayagan (Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil movie) has finally crossed one of the most important hurdles to get released, with Thalapathy Vijay having finally made it to the theatres. The film has been officially certified ‘A’ for cinema halls after months of uncertainty and discussions with the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).
The certification comes as a huge relief for the filmmakers and fans because the film was already being delayed because of censorship issues. The clearance is, although certainly a good thing, disappointing Vijay’s fans are disappointed because the makers are not yet announcing the date when the movie will be released.
New poster creates buzz but keeps fans guessing
The production team recently launched a brand-new poster featuring Thalapathy Vijay. On social media, the poster went viral among all the fans waiting for news on the film.
However, the poster did not reveal the movie's release date. While earlier reports suggested that Jana Nayagan was expected to hit theatres on July 26, it is not mentioned in the promotional material which release date is currently in place.
Instead, the team made a youthful-looking message that they would be present in the theatre very soon. But as the movie is not out of the hands of the filmmakers yet, the release date has raised new doubts among Tamil film industry actors and fans.
In fact, the poster has the letter “A” behind Vijay, which may signal that the movie has newly acquired an adult certification.

What was the Jana Nayagan Censorship Controversy?
The journey to certification was far from smooth. CBFC initially expressed concern over some politically sensitive and provocative dialogue used in the film.
Censor board members told us to cut and edit certain parts, arguing that there were certain scenes that were considered to be controversial, and the filmmakers fought for the original narrative because they felt it would be inaccurate to edit key scenes and affect the authenticity of the narrative.
After a lot of negotiations, they were able to secure certification without making any major changes to the film’s central content. The board eventually awarded the movie an ‘A’ certificate, and the censorship battles had ended.
Vijay’s final film before full-time politics?
Jana Nayagan’s political journey is also important in that regard. It is a character of Vijay’s politics that Jana Nayagan has come to be known for and is not only a movie actor. He is now into active politics as a member of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and he is engaged in public service.
Jana Nayagan is expected to be Vijay's last film before he turns all political. This has made the project even more special to his huge fan base, who see it as a landmark in the superstar’s cinematic career.
Now that the censor has been cleared, all eyes are on the filmmakers to announce the release date. But the mystery surrounding Jana Nayagan is only helping to fuel the excitement, and in the end, it is the most talked-about Tamil film of the year.
