The temporary suspension of services at these major Jebel Ali religious landmarks coincides with similar announcements from several of the emirate’s churches that have also moved to suspend in-person gatherings under official guidance.

Precautionary Measures Amid Regional Tensions

The closures come as the UAE is still in the midst of a complex and fast-moving regional security environment. The current safety guidelines for the present safety guidance are in line with national security issues and the management of the temple and the gurudwara too said they are committed to the well-being of the community.

  • Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara: The Sikh shrine, a major centre of worship for thousands of worshippers, has said the closure is to prevent mass gathering and protect all the devotees, in line with the government’s wishes.
  • The Hindu Temple, Dubai: The temple management in Jebel Ali also echoed these sentiments, advising the worshippers to stay home and follow updates through official channels.

Broader Impact On Religious Sites

This is not the first time in recent weeks that religious sites in the UAE have taken such steps. The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi also announced temporary closures earlier in March 2026 after the interception of aerial threats from the UAE's defense systems.

Most of Dubai’s Christian parishes, including Christ Church Anglican in Jebel Ali, have moved services to online streaming to allow the faithful to pray virtually while staying in the safety of their homes.

Official Guidance for Residents

But authorities and religious leaders are asking the public to:

  • Stay calm: Do not engage in or spread unverified rumors.
  • Follow official channels: You can rely on the Ministry of Interior and local police information daily for real-time safety information.
  • Stay Indoors: Minimize non-essential travel to crowded religious or public hubs until the “until further notice” status is lifted.

There is no official date for the reopening of these facilities. The faithful should check the websites and social media of their respective religious institutions for future announcements.
