Grand Theft Auto 6 is getting another big leak just hours before Rockstar Games will open up the game for an extended look at the game in person. Video clips and images claiming to show the game’s entire map are being posted online and GTA fans are in a panic.
The leaked material includes gameplay footage of driving, combat and interactions with characters in the game. Images of what appears to be the full Leonida map have also circulated online.
But you should be careful because Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive have not publicly admitted that the leaked material is real. A few of the stories also said Rockstar had been issuing copyright takedown requests against posts sharing the footage, which has only increased speculation that some of it could be real.
The timing of the leak is even more notable. Rockstar has already announced that an official GTA 6 Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27. Rockstar's official website confirms the event and lists the game's release date as November 19, 2026.
What does GTA 6 Leak Show?
According to reports, two gameplay videos appeared online along with map images that supposedly show the wider world of GTA 6. Jason Duval, one of the game’s two main characters, was featured in the footage, the report said.
One of the clips is said to show Jason driving off before getting involved in a fight. The footage appears to depict combat mechanics, police activity and a wanted level. Many of the gameplay systems that fans had previously not seen clearly in official material are also mentioned in the reports.
Some reports claim the leaked footage shows a fuel system, vehicle storage and loadout system. Another piece of information reported is a six-star wanted system, which would bring back a feature familiar to longtime GTA players.
The leaked material also shows Jason engaged in a street fight and employing different attacks. Some reports say that the gameplay also has a stamina system that changes depending on how the player plays during combat.
Another feature is a basketball activity. If that leaked footage is real, GTA 6 would give players more activities besides the main missions.
The map leak has even attracted more attention. The map is claimed to cover the fictional state of Leonida, including Vice City and the surrounding areas. The leaked map is said to divide the world into several counties and show cities, towns and other places.
But fans need to not take everything circulating online as true. Leaked images may be incomplete and outdated or edited and some could be from a much earlier version of the game.
That is particularly important since game development takes years. Developers constantly change maps, missions, characters, and gameplay systems before a game reaches the final version.
Netflix extended look is still happening.
At this point Rockstar will have something to do with the leak because they are already planning a big official reveal.
As announced, the GTA 6 Extended Look is going to launch on August 27 at 3 PM ET. GTA 6 will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S on November 19, 2026.
The Netflix presentation is expected to provide a much closer look at the game than the trailers that have been released so far. It could show actual gameplay systems, the game’s world and more details about Jason and Lucia.
The leak may therefore spoil some surprises that Rockstar wanted to reveal during the official presentation.
This is not the first time GTA 6 has experienced a leak. In 2022, the game suffered a major security breach that had a huge amount of unfinished gameplay footage posted online. Rockstar later confirmed that the video had been leaked from an intrusion into the game's network.
The first official GTA 6 trailer leaked before it was released in December 2023. Rockstar responded to the leak by releasing the official trailer earlier than expected.
The latest leak is once again putting pressure on the studio’s carefully planned marketing campaign. Rockstar has not publicly confirmed the source of the latest material or provided a detailed response to the reports.
And for fans, the leak has brought the game to life again.
GTA 6 is already one of the most anticipated video games in the world. Rockstar had kept many secrets about the game quiet so people have been able to analyze every trailer, screenshot and promotional image.
The leaked map and gameplay claims have now given the gaming community even more material to examine.
But at the moment it is better to wait for official details and not take any final conclusions. The Netflix Extended Look might confirm some of the reported features and the rest, in the end, may be wrong or based on older versions of the game.
We are still going to release it on November 19, 2026. Rockstar will be very much focused on generating anticipation for this one of the biggest video game launches of the decade.
On the other hand, for GTA fans, the next big date will be August 27. That is when Rockstar is expected to show the world much more of GTA 6 through its official Extended Look.
Until then, the leaked footage and map should be treated as unverified material, not as a full picture of the final game.
