Journalist cites Three Senior Army Officers

A storm has erupted in Pakistan as senior journalist Wajahat S Khan said that senior Pakistani military officers in the army have asked the media about the location and condition of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan who is imprisoned.

Wajahat S Khan's claim comes from what he describes as information from three senior Pakistani military officers. Khan also claims that the military leadership is deliberately keeping the former prime minister out of public view. That is his claim towards Army Chief Asim Munir and it is the military that is trying to control information about Imran Khan.

Imran Khan behind bars

Imran Khan, who served as Pakistan's prime minister from 2018 to 2022, remains at the centre of the country’s political turmoil since he was removed from power. His imprisonment has become a major concern for the political movement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his supporters.

The former prime minister has been convicted of multiple crimes and imprisoned, and his party has repeatedly raised questions about his treatment and access to legal and political channels. Because of his huge political base, Khan’s health and jail terms are frequently covered, and his access to family members or lawyers is often the subject of discussion around Pakistan.

Calls For Clarity

But the allegations have brought fresh demands for information on what is happening to Imran Khan. His supporters are surely going to press for the official proof and to see the former prime minister more directly. The conflict is also shaking Pakistan’s civilian political leadership and military establishment relationship, which has been the bedrock of political life for decades.

So far, the main allegation is still unverified: journalist Wajahat S Khan says that three senior army officers believe that Imran Khan is dead in prison and that Army Chief Asim Munir is concealing information about him.

And so far, there is no independent evidence of the death of Imran Khan based on this claim. As the story develops, verified statements from Pakistani authorities, Imran Khan's legal team, family members, or other independently credible sources will be crucial in determining the facts.
