The selection process for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has reached its final stage, with a high-level search committee completing the final round of face-to-face interviews in Ayodhya.
The interviews took place on August 11 and 12 at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. The new CEO is expected to be announced soon, but the final decision will be taken by the trust after considering the recommendations of the selection committee.
The CEO will have an important administrative role in the functioning of the Ram Janmabhoomi institution and coordinating various operational responsibilities associated with the temple complex and its broader activities.
High-profile search committee
A search committee made up of experienced personalities from the defence, judiciary, and scientific backgrounds has been formed to select good candidates for the job.
The committee consists of retired Justice Pramod Kohli, Lieutenant General V.K. Chaturvedi, and scientist Dr. Suresh Havare.
The selection process, according to the report, was designed to pick an individual with good administrative skills, leadership experience, and the ability to handle large-scale institutions.
Thousands of applications received
The CEO recruitment process attracted significant interest from across the country. As many as 5,585 applications were initially received for the position.
Of those, 3,877 applicants submitted detailed CVs with information on their professional experience, administrative skills, language skills, and strategic planning.
After a long evaluation process, 1,580 candidates were evaluated for the next stage. Only 111 candidates were shortlisted for online interviews.
The online interviews were about leadership qualities, management skills, and technology perspectives, among other things.
The process was further narrowed down to just 16 candidates who were invited to Ayodhya for personal interviews.
Retired officials and industry experts among finalists
The final 16 candidates are aged 50 to 70 years. The shortlist includes retired IAS and IPS officers, former armed forces personnel, and professionals in the corporate, education, and information technology sectors.
The diverse background of the candidates reflects the wide range of responsibilities expected from the CEO.
In addition to administrative experience, the person appointed to the post may need to coordinate with government agencies, security authorities, religious institutions, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
The ability to manage large-scale operations while maintaining the cultural and religious significance of the Ram Janmabhoomi project will also be key.
Appointment expected soon
Now that the final interviews are complete, the selection process is in its final stages. The search committee will review the performance and suitability of the shortlisted candidates before the final name is considered by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The appointment comes at an important stage for the Ram Mandir project, one of India’s biggest religious and cultural institutions.
The CEO will be expected to bring professional management practices to the organisation and deliver on its longer-term administrative, operational, and developmental goals.
For the reasons being outlined, the extensive recruitment process (that started with thousands of applications and resulted in 16 finalists) emphasizes the importance of the position.
When the trust has finished its own internal discussions and approval process on the candidate, the successful candidate will be formally announced.
