The victim has been identified as Manushree. Two other children and a woman were also injured in the mishap, which occurred late Thursday evening.

The Incident: A Fatal Lapse in Safety

The tragedy unfolded at a construction site owned by an individual named Srinivasulu. According to police reports, several cement bricks slipped from the fourth floor of the rising structure and crashed through the asbestos roof of a small shed located right next to the site.

  • Casualties: 4-year-old Manushree died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
  • Injured Children: Six-year-old Shriyan and five-year-old Shekhar sustained injuries and are currently being monitored.
  • Injured Mother: Mamatha, who had recently moved to the shed to care for her newborn baby, was also injured in the crash.

The injured were rushed to Jeevika Hospital in Marathahalli, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Fortunately, the newborn baby escaped the disaster unhurt.

Local Outrage and Allegations of Negligence

Local residents and witnesses have expressed fierce anger toward the building owner, Srinivasulu. It is alleged that the construction was being carried out without any safety nets, barricades, or precautionary measures, despite the close proximity of residential sheds.

"There was no safety mesh or protection. They were lifting heavy bricks to the fourth floor right above where people live. This isn't an accident; it's a consequence of greed and negligence," said a neighbor at the scene.

Police Action

Following the incident, the HAL Police visited the spot and conducted an initial probe. A case has been registered against the building owner, Srinivasulu, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligence.

Authorities are also investigating whether the building had the necessary permits from the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) and if safety protocols were officially bypassed.
