Bengaluru Honeytrap Mystery: Sexual Assault Complaint Takes ‘Big Twist’ as Blackmail and ₹20 Lakh Extortion Emerge

A sexual assault inquiry with the Amrutahalli Police Station suddenly became clear-cut with evidence pointing to an extortion and honeytrap scheme when added to by new evidence. The assault that started as a serious charge of rape following the Valentine’s Day party has turned into a cross-complaint of extortion claiming the ransom demand for ₹20 lakh.

This came on 23 February 2026, whilst the Bengaluru police were examining a victim's allegations and the alleged framing to which the accused had submitted.

The Allegation: A Party Gone Wrong

The case emerged after a young woman made a complaint regarding two, named Nikhil and his friend Dixon, on February 22. She says she went to a Valentine’s Day celebration where the duo supposedly spiked her drinks and drugged her. In her semi-sensitized state, she said, she had been sexually assaulted and harassed. She spread this story on social media, posting a powerful account of the incident on Instagram, which went viral.

The ‘Big Twist’: Personal Stories and Car Rides

However, the story changed dramatically when the accused Nikhil told her story. The woman showed up with his friend Dixon to the party and seemed quite friendly at the time, Nikhil said. He alleged she started a few personal conversations, explaining that her parents were divorced and her father had cancer. She said she felt really deep depression and wanted counseling.

Nikhil also remarked that the woman went outside after the party to request a drop home. He claimed she became overly personal during the car ride. Nikhil says he continued to be distant, eventually leaving her by the side of Warrior Bakery, advising her to get home safely. The woman was silent for four days after, the accused said, and only made the allegations of what had happened public on social media after a gap.

Blackmail and the ₹20 lakh Demand

The most surprising aspect of the case is the third party’s alleged involvement. Nikhil says that shortly after posting to social media, someone named Imran called, threatening him by phone. Imran reportedly blackmailed Nikhil in the complaint filed at the Malleshwaram Police Station on the grounds that he knew of the “assault” that he was alleging and threatened to destroy not only Nikhil’s name but also that of his friends.

Imran allegedly demanded ₹20 lakh in order to suppress the matter, and to make sure the woman deleted her social media posts. Following it, Nikhil filed an actual FIR for blackmail and extortion even before the woman went to the police of Amrutahalli.

Police Investigation Underway

With two feuding FIRs now active one about sexual assault at Amrutahalli and another for extortion at Malleshwaram the Bengaluru police now face a difficult scenario: he-said-she-said. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the party venue, tracing the GPS path of the car and corroborating the call records of Imran, the alleged blackmailer. Whether the alleged attack was actual or pre-arranged honeytrap meant to make bucks remains at the heart of the investigation.
