Bengaluru Weather Forecast: IMD Predicts 5 Days of Rain; Yellow Alert in Karnataka

The Indian city of Bengaluru is now finally starting to get a little relief from the heat that has been beating down for most of the week, and reports have it that rain will be much more common in this city. Following the change in weather, pre-monsoon activity across the whole state re-enters mode, with cloud cover, thunderstorms and cooler temperatures.

In the latest forecast, the IMD forecasts light-to-moderate rainfall across Bengaluru from Wednesday, with some places receiving very heavy showers. City will likely see partially cloudy skies and thundershowers, and high winds with 30–40 kmph winds. Its max would break through 36°C and its min an estimated 24°C, as officials said increased activity related to rainfall in the week was anticipated, particularly in the evenings.

On the temperature side, the precipitation pattern will follow the temperature pattern. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are forecast to arrive increasingly often, marking the turn to monsoon. An official alert for this was not issued for Bengaluru yet, but in Karnataka, some districts have received their yellow alert.

All of these are in southern interior Karnataka, which is: Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, and Hassan. “In these isolated areas, they will also show heavy precipitation and serve as an alarm system both for residents and local officials alike,” the yellow alert continues.

Another area where moderate to heavy rainfall is due in the days to come along with the south is Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Raichur and Bagalkot in north Karnataka. Like in Belagavi, Koppal, Dharwad and Gadag will be faced with similar weather patterns and demonstrate the pervasive impact of the current system.

Meteorologists attribute this change to changes in atmospheric weather like moisture and instability, which are characteristic of conditions before the monsoon. Conditions like these typically bring sudden thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds that will create symptoms like waterlogging, traffic jams, and power outages.

They are alerting residents to watch out for storm activity in the evening. This may lead to excessive waterlogging and traffic slowing down the areas have a loss of power and some electricity, which will impact the entire region, giving delay in both residents and different types of storms.

Commuters should be careful in their travel arrangements, and those heading into low-lying areas should expect to encounter rising water. It is also recommended that people secure loose outdoor items and be indoors during lightning events. Rain gives comfort, which only helps to make Bengaluru’s already hot climate that much better all around, but it still feels very warm.

But officials said weather conditions could shift quickly, and alerts or updates could be issued depending on how the system runs. This rainy season is the foundation of the changing weather as Karnataka enters the monsoon season. In the meantime, residents should expect cooler evenings and sometimes some cool showers; however, be ready for those abrupt weather swings in the days to come.
