A shocking incident has been reported from Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district, where a man was beaten, tied to a scooter and dragged along a road when payment for a motorcycle was not paid for. Police have arrested five persons for that and registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and also the other legal provisions.
The victim has been identified as Yella Rajesh, a resident of Ramachandrapet. Rajesh purchased a motorcycle from the mechanic shed owner Vennu Mahesh for Rs 11,500. The dispute worsened when the vehicle was not paid for, reported.
According to the evidence, Rajesh took the motorcycle from Mahesh on 11 August and told him that he would pay after finding the bike in good shape. But as per the allegations, Rajesh continued using the motorcycle without paying the agreed amount. This led to a dispute between Rajesh and Mahesh over the pending payment.
The situation took a serious turn on Saturday night when Mahesh, along with his friend Lenka Sri Ram, confronted Rajesh. The two took him to the mechanic shed where he was allegedly kept overnight. Rajesh was physically attacked and tortured during this period.
The alleged assault continued until Sunday morning when Mahesh and his friends took the victim outside, the report said. According to the claims, Mahesh, along with Bommidi Venkata Rao, Nammi Govind and Vennu Appa Rao, tied Rajesh’s hands and neck with a rope.

Then, the accused allegedly used a scooter to drag Rajesh along the road. The incident attracted attention in the area, and the disturbing nature of the alleged assault led to the police's intervention, they said.
Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Damodar reached the place and spoke to Rajesh after the incident came to light. After that, police opened an investigation into the allegations and took action against the five named in the case.
The five accused are arrested, police have said. They have filed a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other relevant sections of law. The provisions of the case will cover the alleged assault and other charges arising from the incident, it said.
