A chilling case of murder has emerged from Chandrapur district in Maharashtra. Police said a 22‑year‑old man strangled his girlfriend with a mobile charger wire and staged the crime as a suicide. The shocking truth was revealed only after the postmortem report confirmed homicide nearly 20 days later.
The accused is Ankesh Yogesh Bahirwar (22). The victim, Priyanka Wandhar, was seven years older than him. The incident occurred on March 14 at 8 pm but came to light on April 3 when the medical report revealed strangulation marks.
Priyanka, who lived in a separate house from her husband, had a romantic relationship with Ankesh. The couple began living together on the top floor of Priyanka’s house, but they frequently fought. In the investigation, Ankesh’s controlling style and restrictions on his contact with his family were found to be the reason for disputes.
Tensions were boiling over on the night of the murder. Ankesh allegedly strangled Priyanka with a mobile charger wire in anger. After doing so, he called Priyanka’s father and said that she was unconscious and might have attempted suicide. Family members rushed her to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.
At first sight, the death appeared to be a suicide; a postmortem report released on April 3 confirmed that Priyanka had been strangled. With this information, police registered a case and commenced a detailed investigation.
Ankesh confessed to the crime during interrogation, said the police. Police recovered the mobile charger and extension board used in the murder from the scene. An FIR against him has been filed and further investigation is going on.
This case illustrates the perils of toxic relationships and the worst effects of unchecked anger. It also demonstrates the importance of forensic reports for gathering the truth behind suspicious deaths. The accused attempted to stage the crime as a suicide, but doctors confirmed the reality.
The authorities have said justice will be pursued and the case is a harsh reminder that domestic disputes can escalate into tragic violence if not addressed. The Chandrapur incident is a grim warning about the need for awareness, intervention and respect in relationships.
