South Indian superstar Nayanthara, who is referred to as “Lady Superstar,” made her debut at the trailer launch of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The actress had not been there for film promotions and public events before. Still, when she was speaking about the director Geetu Mohandas and the lead actor Yash during the event, she talked about her admiration for the film. Nayanthara is one of the most reserved actresses in the industry and rarely publicly praises her colleagues, so her words have a lot of weight.
Nayanthara had at the launch admitted that at first she had declined the offer to be in Toxic. She said she never went to big ensemble movies and was scared when Geetu Mohandas first approached her. But the director told her to read the script, and she did. Nayanthara recalled that Geetu asked her so many questions before finally telling her the story. When she heard the script, she was really shocked when she realised how deep and original it was to her. She said she agreed quickly to join the project and that she was amazed by Geetu’s creative vision and storytelling ability.
Nayanthara also spoke about Geetu Mohandas, whom she had worked with for nearly two decades. The filmmaker has evolved so much in that time, she said, and she is a great director and an even greater person. The trailer is just a glimpse of what viewers can expect from Toxic, and Toxic is much bigger and more ambitious than what people have seen so far, Nayanthara said. The movie is not a typical commercial movie, and Geetu has made something very special, she said. She even said that she could spend hours talking about Geetu and her talent.
But Nayanthara’s speech told us her appreciation for Yash. She had already decided to go to the event because of the Kannada superstar himself, as she admitted. She said she doesn’t want to do promotions because she’s afraid of public speaking, but she made an exception when Yash asked her to come to the event. She said she couldn’t refuse his invitation and was proud to be there.
Nayanthara talked about her work with Yash, saying even with some of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, Yash was different from everyone else. She described him as a “larger-than-life” person on and off the screen and praised his dedication to his craft. She said she’d never seen anyone work as hard as Yash, and he is truly a monster.
Nayanthara’s glowing comments have also stoked the flame of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, one of the most eagerly awaited Indian films of 2026. Directed by Geetu Mohandas and with Yash as lead actor, it also stars Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.
When it is released worldwide on August 26, 2026, Toxic has already attracted a lot of hype with the trailer. With an actor as selective and respected as Nayanthara, expectations for the film have reached an even higher level.
