Kannada superstar Yash delivered an emotional and inspiring speech at the grand trailer launch of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups on August 8, thanking the people of Karnataka for their unwavering support throughout his career.
Speaking before a packed audience at a grand event in Bengaluru, the actor said the film would not have been possible without the love, encouragement and faith shown by his fans over the years. According to Yash, every milestone in his career, including Toxic, has been built on the foundation of support he received from audiences who believed in him and celebrated his work.
He emphasised that the journey leading to Toxic was made possible by the affection and encouragement that Kannada audiences have showered on him throughout his career, inspiring him to constantly push his creative boundaries and strive for excellence with every new project.
Toxic is a new and different kind of film, and the love audiences have given to him is inspiring. He thanked the people for trusting him with his films and said he'd continue to make cinema that makes them proud.
Yash also told fans not to let up on him and to keep faith in his vision. He said he’d never let them down and that Toxic is an art film which people can watch with pride. The project is just a product of the effort of many talented artists and technicians to make Indian cinema great in the eyes of the world, he said.
Yash said Toxic was shot in Kannada and English, as the team wanted to make an international film. He laughingly told me about his own path, in which he was so bad at English at some point, but determination and hard work made him overcome it. It’s possible when people are willing and ready to learn, adapt and pursue their dreams; success is not a long-term struggle, as he said.
Toxic also has some darker themes, the actor said. Not only is it a commercial movie with action and spectacle, but it is also a movie that portrays how people feel about things today and how they are in our society or in our minds. Yash noted today’s young people face a lot of uncertainty and emotional storms, and so many of them come up in the movie. Toxic is a movie about human experience and feelings, he said, and it’s not just a mass entertainment show.
Yash has thought about what kind of career he could have taken after the success of the KGF franchise: he could have been writing a commercial film. But he wanted to try something different and meaningful. It was when he met the great filmmaker Geetu Mohandas. The director was very passionate, with vision and determination, and had great passion about being able to show her talent to the world, he said. He also noted how she sacrificed a lot in the making of the movie, how she worked so far from her family in order to accomplish her vision.
Yash ended with confidence that audiences would see Geetu Mohandas’ ability and dedication in full manifestation on screen and see the film on the big screen. Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is already one of the most eagerly awaited Indian films of the future with its unique storytelling, ambitious scale and emotional depth. Out on release worldwide on August 26, the film will be able to make a film that is not a commercial product yet and is Yash’s vision as an actor and a storyteller.
