These are the same words that are now in common with Nayak, a movie in which a common man turns governance around in a single day and Vijay has made national noise in the past few days.

When Vijay was speaking to government officials and party members recently, he told them and party workers that his administration would not tolerate corruption at any level. He also criticized the new trend of officials and politicians turning to social media popularity instead of public service.

Vijay said there should be no “Instagram reel gimmicks and no corruption” in a statement that went viral. The comment was widely interpreted as a warning against officials using social media only for publicity and not to do their jobs.

The Chief Minister stressed that governance should be measured by tangible results rather than online visibility. Public servants should be concerned with the welfare of people, transparent administration and efficient delivery of government services not content for social media platforms, he said.

Political observers said Vijay's statement is meant to demonstrate an attempt to establish a disciplined administrative culture during the early phase of his tenure. That comparison with the 2001 Bollywood film Nayak starring Anil Kapoor made it popular online because it portrays a leader taking quick action against corruption and bureaucratic inefficiency.

Social media users started to refer to Vijay’s approach as a “real-life Nayak moment” as they posted footage from the film and news of his speech. And while supporters praised the Chief Minister’s focus on accountability and clean governance, critics said that implementation would ultimately be about performance.

Government officials filming Instagram reels while on duty is an issue that many Indian states have been debating. Videos taken inside government offices, hospitals, police stations and public institutions have been widely used to deflect attention from official duties.

Vijay's administration appears to be on a mission to maintain professional standards within the bureaucracy. They have been reminded of the primary function of office, public service, and that office use for personal branding will not be tolerated.

Moreover, every corruption complaint would be taken seriously by the Chief Minister. He assured citizens that his government will increase transparency, accountability and welfare schemes to reach the beneficiaries without any issues.

The speech has already generated a lot of political buzz with supporters describing it as a strong signal of administrative reform. It will be hard to see if this “Nayak-style” governance model yields lasting institutional change, but Vijay’s message has certainly set expectations for a corruption-free and performance-driven administration.

In conversations in political circles and social media, the Chief Minister's comments have placed clean governance and accountability at the center of public discourse, and a commitment to action rather than publicity, as he has set in motion for action to follow.
