According to legal sources, Darshan has filed an application before the apex court seeking to amend the order issued on May 15 which allowed him to file a fresh bail petition after a certain period and under certain conditions. The actor has also asked for a reduction in the waiting period on the court’s side and for modifications in the examination of witnesses during the trial.

The latest development marks another significant chapter in the actor’s ongoing legal proceedings, which have attracted public and media attention.

The Supreme Court had, in a May 15 order, ordered that the trial court conduct the examination of witnesses in a time-bound manner. The court had also indicated that a fresh bail application could be considered only after the completion of a certain period and emphasized the need for swift progress in the trial.

The court had ordered the prosecution to examine about 60 witnesses in one year in line with this order, so the case does not drag on. The conditions were meant to balance the rights of the accused with the need for a fast trial.

However, Darshan is now seeking relief from the Supreme Court by asking for a one-year wait period for filing a fresh bail plea. In his application, he has also asked the court to reconsider the number of witnesses needed to be examined before he becomes eligible to seek further relief.

Legal experts say such modification applications are not unusual when an accused believes that changed circumstances or practical difficulties warrant a review of conditions imposed by a higher court. The Supreme Court will now determine if Darshan’s arguments justify the changes to this direction.

The application has been filed and is waiting to be heard by the appropriate bench of the Supreme Court. No date has been fixed for the hearing of the matter.

There is also a possibility that the application is disposed of at the chamber level or brought up to a judicial bench for detailed consideration, depending on the purpose of relief sought and court assessment of the request.

Darshan's murder case has been the subject of a lot of attention in Karnataka. The investigations, arrest, court proceedings, and the legal procedure have been very much a hot topic for the fans, legal observers, and the public.

The prosecution is still pursuing the trial and the examination of witnesses is still a key component of the case. Darshan’s latest plea will be important in future bail proceedings and in the overall course of the trial.

Legal observers believe the decision on the modification request will give us more clarity on whether the conditions are still in place or if any relaxation will be granted to the actor.

Until the court weighs and decides the issue, the conditions imposed in the order of May 15 will continue to operate. All eyes are now on the Supreme Court as it is assessing Darshan’s latest legal move in the continuing murder case.
