A three-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted at the day care in Delhi’s Maujpur area, with CCTV footage showing a teacher pushing, slapping and physically assaulting the child. Delhi Police has registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and a caretaker has been arrested.
Four people are now accused in the case. They are the school's director Sunita Bansal, principal Neelam and teachers Simran and Pooja, according to police.
The case came to light after the child’s parents were aware that he had been injured and began to change behaviour. The school’s CCTV footage, they say, showed the assault.
Parents Notice Injuries After Child Complains Of Pain
According to the child’s parents, the incident came to them after their three-year-old son was complaining of pain in his ear. They also saw bruises on his face and arms, and took him to the doctor.
The doctor found both of the child’s eardrums swollen and told the parents that the injuries appeared to have been caused by physical assault. The parents then approached the day care administration to ask what had happened to their son.
The parents said the school initially denied that any physical assault had taken place. They then asked to see the classroom's CCTV footage so they could understand what had happened while the child was at the facility.
According to the child’s father, the school administration asked the family to pay Rs 1,500 to get access to the CCTV footage. The family paid and obtained the footage.
The child’s mother subsequently reviewed recordings from August 16, 17 and 18. The video showed the child being tied to a chair with an apron, and physically assaulted by staff members, the family said.
The child’s father said his son had been tied up in the chair for almost three hours, and beaten on the head repeatedly. These claims are part of the family’s complaint and are being investigated by the police.

CCTV Footage Shows Alleged Assault
The CCTV footage shows a teacher pushing the child’s small plastic chair across the floor with her leg. In another part of the footage, the teacher is seen allegedly slapping the child.
The visuals have become a key part of the case after the family approached the authorities. Police are analyzing the footage in conjunction with the child’s parents’ statements and other evidence, the report says.
The incident was reported from Maujpur in northeast Delhi. Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act which deals with offences involving children.
The case names four people as accused, including the school’s director, principal and two teachers. Police have arrested a caretaker in connection with the case.

CCTV recordings from the relevant dates will be an important part of the investigation. Police will also look at the child’s medical records and statements from the family and other people involved with the day care.
The case has raised concerns over the safety of young children in childcare and educational facilities since the alleged abuse reportedly took place when the child was under the supervision of staff.
The family approached authorities after finding injuries on the child and reviewing the CCTV footage. A caretaker has now been arrested, and the director, principal and teachers identified in the case are still under police investigation.
Now authorities will have to determine the circumstances of the alleged assault and whether further arrests or legal action are warranted as the investigation continues.
