A devastating fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Palam area of New Delhi, claiming the lives of seven people, including three children. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the city and raised serious concerns about fire safety in residential areas.
According to officials, the blaze erupted late at night, quickly engulfing multiple floors of the building. Residents were caught off guard as flames spread rapidly, leaving little time for escape. Firefighters rushed to the scene and battled the inferno for several hours before bringing it under control.
Emergency services, including fire tenders and police teams, carried out rescue operations and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals. However, seven people succumbed to the fire, with three of the victims being young children, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed. Authorities are also investigating whether the building had adequate fire safety measures in place.
In response to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and announced a magisterial inquiry into the incident. She assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for negligence.
