D.K. Shivakumar “We paid our respects to the statues of the Constitution’s main architect, Dr. Ambedkar and Lord Buddha during the inauguration,” he said. Minister D.K. Shivakumar also said on social media. The programme was attended by a number of ministers, elected representatives and district officials.

The inauguration of the Ambedkar Bhavan was part of a larger programme in Kollegal that included inauguration and foundation-laying of several development projects. The recent reports said the September 30 visit was centred on development projects including health, education, water supply and connectivity with projects worth around ₹1,500 crore scheduled for inauguration or foundation-laying across the Kollegal and Hanur constituencies.

The new Ambedkar Bhavan was among the completed government infrastructure projects opened to the public. Other facilities inaugurated during the programme were a 100-bed government hospital in Yelandur, a pre-matric boys' hostel and a government ITI college. And there were several other projects that are going to have the government’s formal launch or foundation stone during the visit.

At the inauguration of Ambedkar Bhavan, Shivakumar paid floral respects to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar who has made a difference in India’s constitution and whose memory is still celebrated in public institutions and memorials and civic events. The programme also paid tributes to Lord Buddha and thus the cultural and social significance of the event.

According to Shivakumar's description of the event, Social Welfare Minister K.H. Muniyappa, Minister C. Puttarangashetty, Member of Parliament Sunil Bose, legislators A.R. Krishnamurthy, M.R. Manjunath and H.M. Ganesh Prasad, Legislative Council Member D. Timmayya, Ambedkar Development Corporation Chairman C. Narendra and other public representatives were present. Their participation reflected the presence of representatives from different levels of Karnataka’s elected institutions.

The Kollegal programme was not limited to the Ambedkar Bhavan. Reports ahead of the visit said that the government would take up or inaugurate projects related to roads, bridges, irrigation, healthcare, education and water supply. This included the first phase of a district-level government hospital, the Mudigundam bridge project and water-supply works related to Agara-Mamballi lakes and Bengaluru-Dabaspet industrial area.

The programme also marked a very significant public event in Chamarajanagar district and district administration officials and local representatives had been involved in the preparations. Earlier news had said the event was organised at the grounds of MGSV College in Kollegal and the participants were ministers and legislators.

The opening of the Ambedkar Bhavan is very important from a civic and institutional perspective from the perspective of community and educational purposes as such facilities can be used in community events, social awareness activities, educational events and commemorations. The building's construction is a part of the public infrastructure that can be found in Kollegal and part of the overall set of facilities that is being built or being developed in the region.

Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, to an extent, was also brought out on stage because of his work in the development of the Constitution of India and his long-standing ties to social equality and constitutional rights. The state government and local administration provided floral tributes, and Shivakumar made an infrastructure inauguration and a public ceremony.

The programme on September 30 therefore integrated the inauguration of the new Ambedkar Bhavan with a broad range of government development activities in Kollegal and neighbouring areas. With a number of projects being inaugurated or launched, the visit was concerned with public infrastructure and the tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Lord Buddha were a central element of the Ambedkar Bhavan ceremony.
